Titration Competition 2012

Barker teams were placed 2nd and 3rd out of 27 teams in the competition

held at Barker on 16 June, 2012.

 

Year 11 Marine Camp @ Chowder Bay

Barker Year 11 students work closely with Lands Edge and SIMS during the annual Marine Camp at Chowder Bay. By studying the sea urchin population at Chowder Bay and Balmoral students are able to gather data which gives an indication of the health of the ecosystem.

STANSW Young Scientist Awards 2014

Mr Choi with George Gardiner; Oliver Nicholls; Joshua Lorschy and Jayden Pak at the STANSW Young Scientist Awards Ceremony in Wollongong, 27 Oct, 2014.

The Awards celebrate exemplary scientific investigation and models/ inventions carried out by students across NSW schools.

Barker College has had a long history of success in these Awards.

The following boys were successful in the following categories:

Oliver Nicholls

- 3rd place in the new Models and Inventions category ( "To successfully build a replica model of a pulsar and receiver and compare output of the model to a real pulsar")

Joshua Lorschy

- 3rd place in the Earth & Environmental category (" Do all liquids evaporate at the same rate?")

George Gardiner

- 2nd place in the Earth & Environmental category ( "Homemade Solar Air Heater")

Jayden Pak

- 2nd place in the Chemistry category ( "The effectiveness of commercially available teeth whitening products")

 

Kyle Willimott wins 4th place Grand Award !

Kyle Willimott has won a 4th place Grand Award

at the finals of the

INTEL Int'l Science and Engineering Fair

in Phoenix Arizona.

He was the only Australian to win a Grand Award.

STANSW Young Scientist of the Year Awards

Barker student wins STANSW

Young Scientist Award !

Three Barker Science students were awarded prizes

in a ceremony on Friday 26 October:

NICHOLAS CHANG - Ist place Yrs 7-9 Earth & Environmental Science ( NSW )

WILL de MONTEMAS - 2nd place Yrs 7-9 Earth & Environmental Science ( NSW )

KYLE WILLIMOTT ( Year 10 ) - 2nd place in Models and Inventions division and,

Young Scientist of the Year for 2013 !

Congratulations to all the winners !

Kyle now moves forward to  the BHP Billiton Science Awards,

and if successful has the opportunity to compete at

the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair 2013 in the USA.
